For those who avoid alcohol for religious reasons, know that Van Leeuwen uses a special process of aging their vanilla beans in vodka for several months. They then grind up those beans and the alcohol and add it to their ice cream base. They claim that this creates a stronger vanilla flavor than vanilla extract. I believe them! It was like I was in vanilla heaven. The ice cream is rich and creamy smooth goodness. Its what dreams are made of.
